Okay so these are basically used parts, but you just basically wrap them up with carbon fiber material sticker. Is that right or are these pieces already carbon fibered. NO NO NO, Ranger. This is NOT vinyl wrap (3M Dinoc)!!! This is real carbon fiber material backed with textile fabric for flexibility made for wrapping contoured surfaces. It is not layer upon layer of carbon fiber by itself, strengthened with resin like an aftermarket hood or trunk would be. That would be an original piece. These pieces are refreshed used OEM pieces. Once a wood trim is cracked, for example, there is no fixing the crack. The fabric covers up all those cracks and blistering (in the plastic pieces) for a completely new look. I bet a set of carbon fiber trim in an Imola red convertible interior would look great. These trim sets are hand wrapped in Carbon Fiber Fabric with a knit fabric backing for flexibility. They are OEM trim pieces refreshed with Carbon Fiber fabric to revive old wood and plastic trim. Only top quality 3M adhesives are used for adhesion and durability. No stitching is available. I have had one of these sets installed in my 323i (3rd pic) for two years with no problems so I dont know how the armrests hold up. But my educated guess is that they hold up great. I say this for two reasons. Firstly, ive put a few “dents” in the two layers of fabric in my car and I can tell you, since it basically consists of fabric and adhesive (no coating) the “dents” simply relax themselves out. Secondly, the set I did for a coupe customer recently, I can honestly tell you was my best work and judging by the gauge (thickness) of the Platinum Metallic (PtM) fabric he ordered it will hold up just fine. Cleaning, is done with a simple dusting with a soft bristle brush. More stubborn spots can be removed with a gentle rubbing with a pencil eraser. As for the patterns lining up. I take great care in ensuring the patterns line up. All dash/shifter piece patterns line up perfectly in a //// orientation. All armrests also line up in a /// orientation as you look down from your seat. Not as you look at them perpendicular to the door. This is one of my fabrication tricks to insure maximum adhesion and eliminate bubbling and delamination from the inside of the armrests where your hands come in contact it most. If it did, it is not noticable but its my little attention to detail. I hope Ive addressed all of your questions. You can see the SMG insert in pic #4. I cant help but think the TiG would look BEST on your convertible given your exterior color. Hi – Are these kits something I could try installing myself or would you recommend going to a professional installer? Rick, This is absolutely a DIY level project you could undertake. Especially if you have a sedan. The door pieces come out simply and the dash pieces come out simply if you start on the right and work your way left. The shifter plate comes out with two easily undone screws. If you drive a coupe or convertible, I can help you undo those with only a little bit of instruction. I received my trim set today and I was amazed with the results and look of the ultra black carbon. What do you recommend cleaning the trim with? Bryan, I’m so glad you’re happy with your set of trim. To clean use a small natural bristle brush. Like a paint brush. For any stains, use a big pink or brown pencil eraser. Like the ones you used in grade school. Every once in a while I drop 3M glue on one of the pieces I’m fabricating and it the eraser lifts the stain right off. DO NOT use Armor All or similar products. For a nice sheen you could apply a LITTLE to a cloth and give it a going over. But definitely DO NOT spray directly onto Carbon Fiber.
